Wir sorgen uns um die Sicherheit der Menschen im Land und auf der Flucht. Wir betrauern die ersten Todesopfer. Unsere Gedanken sind insbesondere bei unseren KollegInnen, den ZeitzeugInnen und ihren Nachkommen sowie all jenen jungen Menschen, die sich im Rahmen der internationale Jugendarbeit an unseren KZ-Gedenkstätten für das Erinnern und das Aussöhnen stark gemacht haben. Bei Vladimir Putins aggressivem Angriffskrieg handelt es sich um einen Völkerrechtsbruch, der mit propagandistischen Pseudobegründungen begleitet wird, die an Zynismus kaum zu überbieten sind. Der Angriff auf die Ukraine ist ein Angriff auf die Werte der freiheitlichen und demokratischen Welt und erfordert unsere vollumfängliche Solidarität. Wir begrüßen die einheitliche Haltung und die beschlossenen Maßnahmen der Europäischen Union, so Stiftungsdirektor Karl Freller.

 “The Bavarian Memorial Foundation fiercely condemns the Russian attack on the Ukraine. We are concerned for the safety of the people remaining in the country and those seeking refuge. We mourn the first deaths. In particular our thoughts are with our colleagues, survivors of Dachau and Flossenbürg Concentration Camp and their descendants, as well as all the young people, who in the context of international youth work at our concentration camp memorials drove for remembrance and reconciliation. Vladimir Putin’s belligerent war of aggression is a breach of international law, which is accompanied with propagandistic pseudo justifications, and its cynicism can hardly by surpassed. The attack on the Ukraine is an attack on the values of the liberal and democratic world and demands our solidarity in its entirety. We welcome the coherent stance and the enacted measures of the European Union”, says the director of the foundation Karl Freller.
